Position Purpose summary:
TheEmergencyDisaster ServicesCoordinatorprovides oversightofEmergencyDisaster Service Responses. The incumbentis responsible forcontinuous quality improvement ofEDSprograms ensuring maximum mission impact and responsiveness to expressed needs.

Ensures that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
Supports theProgramsManagerbyprovidingoversighttoEmergency Disaster Servicesprograms ensuring ministryobjectivesare consistentlyaccomplishedand thatwholistic wellness includingspiritual healthis the driving force in creating programsupportsthatare integrated into our mission.
Oversees allEmergency DisasterServicesfoodservices programs(i.e.Reception Center Emergency Responder Meals trainingeventsetc.).
Supports annual donation/fund-raising efforts (Christmas Kettle Campaign Christmas Toy Drives Year-round Food Drives etc.) for the Ministry Unit.
Assists thePrograms Manager and Community ServicesDirector with ongoing asset mapping to ensureservicesreflectcommunity/neighborsneeds as these evolve in our ever-changing socioeconomic climate.
Workswith theVolunteerCoordinator to plan forEmergency Disaster Servicesvolunteer needsfor year-roundEmergencyDisasterServicesresponses;and is a keycomponentin the retention ofthese volunteerby upholding an engagingpositiveand supportive work environment.
Supportslocal eventsthatassistvolunteersto continue to develop skills forEmergency Disaster Servicesservicedeliveriesin supportingour community.
Preparesfood safety and menu plans.
EnsuresEmergency Disaster Services vehiclesare prepared for deployment.(including Interior Health Certifiedequipment functioningfueled stockedcleanedandmaintained).
May implement communication/donor relations strategies to ensure continued donations through community partners.
Serves asThe Salvation Armys Emergency Disaster Servicesliaisonfor Emergency Operations Centre operations when on-site at church gym oras needed.Ensures allrequiredsupportsareprovidedfor community partners.
Serves asEmergency Disaster ServicesTeam Lead for all activeEmergency Disaster Servicesresponses inthecommunity. Works withtheDirectorsTeamManagementTeamVolunteer CoordinatorandDivisional EDS Secretary to ensure adequate ongoing volunteer support throughout incidents and to avoid volunteer/staff burn-out.
Plans for regular team debriefs throughout and following each majorEmergency Disaster Servicesincident.
Engage with the Corps OfficersDirectorsTeamand Programs Managerto implement a local Emergency Response Planassistingwith provincial/federal emergencies as required with Emergency Disaster Training provided by The Salvation Army.
Volunteer Coordination
Applies and implementsbest practices andorganizational strategies andmakesrecommendations for volunteer development.
May be asked to support the VolunteerCoordinatorwith feedback and coaching reviews with volunteers.
Supports ongoing supervision training onboardingfor regular year-round volunteers.
Provides direct supervision on-boarding and debriefing for EDS volunteers.
Works with theCommunity Services DirectorVolunteerand the Divisional Emergency Disaster Services Secretary to ensure all local EDS volunteers have the required training (Intro to EDS EDS Food Services Emotional/Spiritual Support/ local specific training) prior to deployment.

Tracks EDS expenditures for invoicing to Provincial Government for Provincial Emergencies
Regular responsibility for financialexpenditures and wise use of resources.
May handlesmall amountsof cash.
Minor material responsibility.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Serves in an office environment within a busy CS ministry. The location of work may create a possibility of experiencing the following disagreeable conditions:

minor risk of harm injury illness due to physical attacks from others and/or exposure to infectious diseases.

Able to provide Criminal Background Check screening and Vulnerable Secord Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion is. (Paid for by Ministry Unit)
Experience and Skilled KnowledgeRequirements
Frontlinetraining experience in emergency planning and preparedness or other experience in frontline work withpeople affected byemergency or disaster situations.
Proficient inMicorsoft365 applications

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $21.83 to $27.29 with a maximum of $32.75.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
