Position Summary

As a Material Prep & Finishing Operator you will be responsible to repare parts for painting and inspect parts after painting to ensure quality.


Shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am Monday - Friday

What you will do as a Material Prep & Finishing Operator

  • Preparing parts for painting including performing the following tasks: sanding washing masking hangingtacking parts and unhanging parts.
  • Unmasking cleaning and re-taping as necessary after parts are painted.
  • Reading blueprints to identify parts and the tasks to be performed on parts.
  • Using Shop Floor Control to determine job assignment and job specifications.
  • Using AS400 to determine availability and location of parts.
  • Visually inspecting parts for quality.
  • Remaining safety conscious always and properly wearing all prescribed safety equipment including dust mask while performing job.
  • Meeting pulmonary standards; including successful completion of annual testing requirements.
  • Conform to all policies procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Employee handbookBulletin Boards Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by STERIS Management.

The Experience Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • High school graduate or GED required.

Other:

  • Two years prior material prep experience preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions and stay quality focused.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the leadership team.
  • Assist with training other operators.
  • Ability to make decisions and stay quality focused.
  • Ability to understand and follow work instructions both written and oral.
  • Ability to adapt to conditions as dictated by business requirements.
  • Ability to work with others.
  • Willingness to work overtime if required.
  • Knowledge understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing tools such as 5S Kanban InventoryVisual Management Waste elimination and Root Cause Problem Solving are preferred.

Pay range for this opportunity is$17.47-$22.61. ACTION REQUIRED - REMOVE IF NOT APPLICABLE: This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors including but not limited to local labor market costs years of relevant experience education professional certifications foreign language fluency etc.
