AECOMs Natural Resources team is seeking a talented Mid-level Biologist (Biologist III) to join our growing team. This role will support some of Californias most exciting and important projects. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our group of more than 100 environmental professionals in Northern California.
This hybrid position will join our team based in our Oakland CA office.
Candidates must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area due to project and field work assignments. This opportunity will support a variety of projects and clients in northern California with a focus on field assessments and surveys technical writing and analysis task management and construction monitoring.
The responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:
- Acting as Task Manager or Environmental Compliance Lead on multiple projects including review and interpretation of project plans and permits; staffing surveyors monitors and technical experts; coordination of necessary project reporting; and coordination with clients and contractors.
- Surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting birds.
- Surveys for special-status plants and vegetation mapping.
- Monitoring construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements and/or permits. Preparation of reports documenting survey or monitoring results.
- Conducting wetland delineations and preparing Aquatic Resources Delineation Reports.
- Preparation of other technical documents or permit applications.
- Participation as an active and positive member of AECOMs Environmental Planning & Permitting practice.
- Occasional travel in Central and Northern California may be required.

Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in biology ecology or a related field.
- 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in environmental compliance support biological surveys and report writing.
- Valid U.S. Driver License required (and must be able to safely drive to job sites).
- Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 years of relevant biological experience.
- Experience as an environmental compliance lead on projects involving preconstruction surveys and construction monitoring.
- Experience preparing pre-construction and post-construction reports and deliverables.
- Experience as a Task Manager or Project Manager.
- Familiar with the agencies having jurisdiction over special-status species and hydrologic resources.
- Experience surveying for protected and special-status species that may occur in northern California such as nesting birds California red-legged frog California tiger salamander Alameda whipsnake and others.
- Plant identification skills are desirable but are not required.
- Wetland delineation skills are desirable but are not required.
- Experience writing and preparing permit applications and other supporting technical documentation.
- Positive attitude and is adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
- Highly organized with a strong detail-oriented work style.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
