As an Accountant youll assist the Manager Finance in ensuring the effective operation of Councils financial systems. This includes financial reporting budgeting forecasting and contributing to strategic projects that improve business performance and efficiency.
Youll be part of a collaborative and supportive Corporate Services team that values innovation accuracy and integrity in everything we do.
What Will You Do Ka aha koe
- Support the preparation of Councils financial reports budgets forecasts and Annual Report.
- Assist with financial modelling to inform short and long-term planning.
- Partner with managers across Council to provide timely and accurate financial information that supports decision-making.
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives enhancing processes systems and reporting capabilities.
- Participate in internal audits and ensure compliance with financial legislation and reporting standards.
- Work creatively to develop innovative reporting tools and adapt financial software to meet Councils evolving needs.
Who Are You Ko wai koe
We are looking for someone with:
- A formal accounting qualification.
- Strong understanding of accounting practices and IFRS standards.
- Excellent analytical organisational and communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Suite skills and solid knowledge of financial systems.
- A collaborative solutions-focused approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Local government or public sector experience (advantageous).
- Membership with CA ANZ (desirable).
