About the team:
Freeths highly rated national Recovery & Insolvency Team deals with a full range of insolvency and debt recovery cases. The Team is the top-ranked team in the country amongst all solicitors firms for numbers of cases issued in the Chancery Division of the High Court.
We act for insolvency practitioners lenders and other creditors local authorities and corporate and individual clients.
The work we do is undertaken by experienced senior lawyers with the support of executives and trainees. The team requires a legal executive / paralegal to assist the lawyers with a range of cases.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Executive / Paralegal to become a key member of our team in our Birmingham office. The successful candidate will work within our team in managing and handling a large number of cases. The ideal candidate will have recent experience within R&I excellent organisational skills and the ability to case-manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting of letters court proceedings court questionnaires etc in a large number of court cases
- Proactively chasing the court our clients and our opponents in order to ensure cases progress in a timely and efficient manner.
- Managing court cases from start to finish under supervision.
- Reviewing and monitoring debtor payment plans to ensure money is being received when expected.
- Dealing with house repossessions and evictions when this is required
- Assisting with conveyancing processes after we have obtained house possession orders from the court
- Maintaining and organising electronic and paper client files ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Undertaking occasional legal research across debt recovery and insolvency law areas.
- Drafting correspondence and communicating with clients other lawyers and third parties in a professional manner.
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuring tasks are completed on time.
- Supporting the teams solicitors and partners with case management including client and matter set up and closure processes.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
- Excellent drafting skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiar with iManage and Aderant software and in legal software.
- An aptitude to assist with office profile raising and business development activities.
- Experience representing claimants in court
