Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (Locum or Fixed Term)

We are seeking a locum Obstetrician & Gynaecologist from February June 2026 to support our team of eleven consultants at Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Southern.
Our department supports a maternity unit with an antenatal and postnatal area with approximately 20 beds operating theatre and antenatal and outpatient obstetric clinics. Dunedin Hospital has a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated Womens Health Unit. The service is supported by a team of experienced midwives obstetrics gynaecology and colposcopy nurses.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide consultant led antenatal gynaecology and colposcopy clinic services as well as working in Maternity surgical wards operating theatre early pregnancy clinic and the emergency department. There will also be a requirement to provide outlying clinics and support of rural maternity units.
On Call duties include responsibility for labour and birthing acute antenatal and gynaecological assessments and admissions and responsibility of all inpatient acute or from elective surgery after hours.

Mōu ake About you
You will require prior experience as a Consultant Fellow or Senior Registrar be accredited by RANZCOG and hold registration (or be eligible for registration) as a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You will need to be certified to provide colposcopy services.
