The Assessment and Abandoned Mines (AAM) branch leads directs and oversees the management and remediation of abandoned mines in the Yukon. Effectively delivering this service to the people of the Yukon requires commitment to the highest levels of professionalism. Our work is focused on environmental protection health and safety effective project delivery and sound financial planning.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of multifaceted projects including planning implementing and overseeing care and maintenance programs mine water management construction remediation engineering design and various forms of technical monitoring at remote abandoned mine sites. We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual who has proven experience in project management fiscal accountability and a solid understanding of the underlying technical issues associated with large scale abandoned mines or sites with similar complexity. The ideal candidate is an individual with experience leading remediation or large infrastructure development projects overseeing engineering and design teams and applying risk-based decision making to complement the skill sets in our multidisciplinary team. Post-secondary degree in engineering science resource management or a related field;
Experience managing and leading large complex projects including work planning scheduling budget preparation and management communications and contract management;
Experience in building partnerships within and outside your organization;
Experience leading and working within teams with diverse interests and skills; and
Experience in implementing projects on active or abandoned mine sites in a northern climate would be an asset.

Candidates who do not have requisite educational qualifications but possess significant experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Ability to work independently and engage collaboratively;
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) with a diverse complement of project team members contractors consultants First Nations and regulators;
Ability to lead manage and successfully deliver large complex projects;
Excellent problem-solving skills; and
Ability to produce effective accurate results under tight timelines and shifting priorities.
