Overview
The Division Manager Portable Restroom Systems oversees all operations maintenance and deployment readiness for Abel Fire Equipments sanitation fleet including restroom trailers portable toilets hand-wash stations and black-water trucks. This position ensures the divisions equipment is always clean functional compliant and field-ready.
As a working manager this role combines leadership and craftsmanship planning and managing projects while personally performing repairs maintenance and quality checks. The Division Manager takes full ownership of their fleets condition reliability and presentation setting the standard for cleanliness professionalism and operational excellence across AFEs sanitation assets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Manage all sanitation assets: restroom trailers toilets sinks and black-water trucks.
- Plan and coordinate deliveries pickups and servicing schedules for daily operations and deployments.
- Inspect equipment before and after every job to ensure readiness cleanliness and proper documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date fleet records service histories and compliance certifications.
- Prioritize schedule and complete repair projects while balancing active field deployments.
Hands-On Repairs & Maintenance
- Perform and lead repairs to plumbing electrical and mechanical systems on restroom trailers and service trucks.
- Replace pumps valves and fittings as needed to maintain full system functionality.
- Diagnose and fix leaks clogs and damage to fixtures flooring and cabinetry.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and winterization procedures on all sanitation equipment.
- Ensure systems and waste handling components are functioning safely and efficiently.
Fleet & Resource Management
- Maintain complete readiness of black-water trucks and portable restroom fleet.
- Track consumables and supplies (chemicals paper products gloves hoses fittings etc.) and request restock proactively.
- Keep detailed logs of repairs expenses and parts usage within the AFE app.
- Coordinate with the Yard Manager and Leadership for materials and logistics support.
Leadership & Team Coordination
- Supervise and train a small team responsible for sanitation equipment preparation and service.
- Assign tasks monitor progress and verify completion and quality.
- Work closely with Leadership to align schedules manpower and priorities.
- Provide clear communication direction and accountability to ensure consistent standards.
- Lead by example maintaining a high standard of professionalism safety and work ethic.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce AFEs safety protocols during transport setup servicing and waste handling.
- Verify all operators follow environmental and regulatory requirements for chemical and waste disposal.
- Conduct job-site and yard safety inspections to identify and correct hazards.
- Maintain accurate operator vehicle and pump-truck documentation for DOT and local compliance.
Qualifications
- Experience in sanitation services trailer repair plumbing or equipment fleet maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical plumbing and light electrical work.
- Leadership experience preferred able to manage small teams and delegate effectively.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient with task tracking and documentation systems (AFE App Google Workspace etc.).
- Valid drivers license and insurable driving record required; Class B or A preferred.
- Capable of physical labor lifting 50 lbs and working outdoors in variable conditions.
- Ability to travel into the field as needed.
