Job Summary

The Patient Safety Specialist (PSS) for the Department of Neurosciences is a core member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Patient Safety Office and is specifically embedded in the Neuroscience Department. This role works closely with neurosciences leadership Quality Improvement and leaders and staff from across multiple areas. The PSS acts as a connector between frontline staff local and senior leaders and support teams helping to build and sustain a strong culture of safety. On any given day the PSS can be reviewing patient safety event reports supporting local safety efforts facilitating debriefs after critical events or helping teams coordinate safety improvement projects that impact multiple areas of care. This is a highly collaborative and dynamic role perfect for someone whos passionate about safe patient care teamwork and driving continuous improvement throughout the organization.

What you will bring:

  • Requires active matriculation in a Masters degree program. Completion of the Masters degree must be completed within 18 months of hire into the job. Completion of a nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience required with at least 2 years neuroscience nursing experience preferred; at least 2 years of leadership participation in CUSP methodologies and/or program/project management. Experience in performance improvement and/or team facilitation preferred. Safety training or experience highly preferred.
  • Current Maryland License as an RN or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.

Salary Range: Minimum 46.57/hour - Maximum 72.18/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
