Overview:

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidence- based practice /nursing research quality evaluation resource utilization and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Status/Shift Type: Flexi (PRN/as needed) Night Shift (7PM - 7AM)

Department Overview:We are a varied Med/Surg mixed unit. Our population touches on all aspects of medical addition to caring for oncological patients we also care for patients with CHF COPD Sepsis Pneumonia Diabetes Sickle Cell and end of life to name a few. You will become knowledgeable in procedures such as wound vacs high risk medication infusions telemetry trach care chest tubes peritoneal dialysis etc. We encourage our staff members to join hospital committees to share ideas that help with the care they provide. There is a lot of teamwork in our department and new ideas are always welcome!

Education

  • RN-Associates Degree RN-Bachelors Degree RN-Diploma or RN-Masters Degree (Required)

License / Certification

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing (Required)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire

  • Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.
