At Radio-Canada Toronto we are constantly looking for new talent to fill our temporary positions. We are currently seeking reporters for our newsroom.
Please note that these are on-call positions and you may be required to work early morning late evening or weekend shifts.
Your role:
Do you have ambition initiative and a strong sense of teamwork Are you passionate about current events talented in investigative journalism and eager to uncover issues that matter to your audience
You must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to identify impactful stories. You will be expected to cover daily news for our digital radio and television platforms. You understand the diversity of Toronto and the importance of representing all communities in our content.
Key responsibilities:
Propose original topics conduct research write and produce reports for digital radio and television programming that will engage and inform audiences strengthen our community connections and showcase a wide range of perspectives.
Present information on air in various formats.
Prepare and write scripts transitions and headlines.
Regularly produce exclusive content based on investigative journalism.
Condense large amounts of complex information while adhering to tight deadlines.
Build and maintain working relationships with a wide range of sources and contacts.
Your profile:
Excellent knowledge of Toronto and Ontario-related issues
Strong general knowledge and awareness of current events
Knowledge of the broadcasting industry
Ability to identify propose and implement strong and original story ideas
Strong editorial judgment well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to plan organize and coordinate daily work to meet tight deadlines; capable of working under pressure
Ability to effectively communicate complex information to the general public across all platforms
Willingness to embody and promote the values of a respectful culture focused on diversity and inclusion
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong teamwork spirit
Initiative and resourcefulness
Ability to work both in a team and remotely
Bilingualism (French/English) required
Valid drivers license and driving record that meets CBC/Radio-Canadas minimum insurance requirements
Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings late nights and weekends
University degree in journalism or equivalent and at least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in a multiplatform newsroom
