Job Summary

As our Community Manager you will be working for the Amsterdam Data Science Centre (DSC) to help us bring the UvA data science strategy to a local level: data science communities driven by researchers.
The mission of the DSC is to enhance the universitys research by developing sharing and applying data science methods and technologies. The DSC is part of the UvA Library and led by the scientific director. As the main coordinating hub for data science the DSC facilitates funding knowledge exchange as well as the training of skills related to digital and data-driven research and drives innovation diffusion and cross-pollination of data science across the university.
This is what you will be doing
Using your experience and skills you will connect the researchers and partners of the UvA Data Science Centre. You:
- bring together participants from different disciplines; expanding and deepening our network;
- managethe various programs of the DSCand make sure these run smoothly;
- manage our communications and develop content together with the librarys communication advisor and the participants and partners of the DSC;
- coordinate our website socials and news messages and co-organize events such as our training courses and the annual DSC Data Science Day.
Together with the DSC scientific director the board and library teams you initiate collaboration and knowledge exchange support data science-related events and activities and help develop our training short you make sure researchers take advantage of the opportunities we offer and enthusiastically support the DSC.
This is what we ask of you
As our community manager DSC you:
- have a university degree (Dutch HBO WO or equivalent) and relevant working experience;
- are fluent in English both written and verbal;
- have proficiency in Dutch both written and verbal;
- have an interest in data science and scientific research;
- have demonstrable experience in communication community management community building event organization and social media;
- have great organizational and project management skills;
- are pragmatic hands-on and have good social skills;
- are a good listener and can be persuasive when necessary;
- can work independently and know how to set priorities.

This is what we offer you
We offer a temporary contract for 32 to 38 hours a week for the duration of a year. Upon proven suitability and unchanged financial and organizational circumstances the contract will be converted into a permanent employment.
Salary depends on past education and relevant work experience. For this position the University Job Classification profile Projectleider 2 applies with a minimum salary of 3708 and a maximum salary of 5057 gross per month based on full-time employment for a 38-hour working week in keeping with salary scale 9 as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch addition you will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year allowance. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities is applicable.

This will be your team
You will become part of the Education and Research Support department of the UvA-AUAS Library. The library is an inspiring place to study do research and meet other researchers lecturers and students of AUAS and UvA both offline and online. We collect store manage and curate information. We offer students and researchers a platform to share materials from the past and present and help them to make these available to a worldwide audience. We present our users with custom-made solutions useful advice and hands-on support for education and research.
