Job Summary

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that fights for equity for all women and families. Were passionate about making change on big issues such as equal pay for all women paid leave for working families and access to affordable health care that provides abortion and reproductive care. We advocate on the Hill and for federal state and local policy.


We are seeking an Economic Justice Advocacy Intern to join our Economic Justice team. The internship runs from June to mid-August and operates in a hybrid in-person office environment in Washington this role you will develop skills needed for work in the policy and advocacy world including legislative and policy research analysis writing for a variety of audiences and coalition-building. The Economic Justice Advocacy Intern will work on challenging projects across the National Partnerships economic justice policy agenda including paid family and medical leave paid sick days fair pay occupational segregation pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment.


As an Economic Justice Advocacy Intern you will:

  • Track relevant issues such as paid family and medical leave paid sick days fair pay occupational segregation pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment
  • Conduct research on topics of interests related to our work
  • Contribute to fact sheets and policy products through data collection fact checking and proofreading
  • Attend briefings hearings and other events on Capitol Hill and in other venues around DC and virtually
  • Contribute to team meetings and events

Qualifications


  • Strong writing communication and computer skills.
  • Research experience of some kind in an academic or professional setting. This could include literature reviews quantitative or qualitative data analysis legal research policy research or other types of research.
  • Highly organized attentive to detail and able to manage multiple tasks for different projects.
  • A commitment to gender and equity economic justice and the Partnerships mission of improving the lives of women and families by achieving equality and equity for all women
  • An understanding of how poverty and racial justice intersect with the Partnerships key issue areas.
  • Seeking a learning opportunity in policy research and advocacy. Must be at least a junior in college as of Fall 2024.

Other Details

  • Interns are paid $17.95 an hour
  • The internship runs from late January to mid-May and were flexible with start and end dates
  • This is a part-time (15-25) or full-time (26-37.5) internship and interns are expected to work hours per week during our regular business hours Monday-Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm ET for a maximum amount of hour of 375
  • Interns will generally be expected to work in the National Partnerships office (1725 Eye St. NW Washington DC) at least 2 days per month
  • You must be physically in the Washington DC Metro area

Interns will have access to a computer when working in the office but they will need to use their own computer when working remotely. If you dont have access to your own computer please let us know at for alternative arrangements.
