Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Instructors interested in teaching students in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program studying at our Irwindale CA campus.
Under the supervision of the course faculty lead the instructor may be assigned teaching responsibilities in clinicals skills lab and simulation providing individual mentorship to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills.
Required schedule commitment is Wednesdays & Thursdays 4-6 hours per day
Fundamental Nursing Skills Lab:
This course introduces students to the basic skills of professional nursing including fundamental principles of drug administration patient teaching-learning health assessment and patient mobility. A key part of the course is to integrate theoretical knowledge into practical application utilizing nursing diagnosis care planning and implementation and patient evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
- Implement the Colleges philosophy curriculum program outcomes and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
- Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
- Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
- Student Evaluation and Support
- Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students knowledge base skill competency and individual learning needs.
- Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance to students based on course objectives.
- Be available for remediation of students as required or needed.
- Correct and return homework quizzes tests lab assignments clinical paperwork and other written work in a timely manner.
- Clinical Coordination
- Orient and maintain current knowledge related to clinical site policies procedures and expectations with the assistance of the clinical site personnel.
- Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students knowledge base skill competency and individual learning needs.
- Develops and posts written clinical assignments consistent with students knowledge base skill competency and individual learning needs.
- Maintain visibility while staying available to staff and students at the clinical site.
- Program and College Development
- Contribute to the ongoing development implementation and evaluation of the programs and the College.
- Participate in the implementation of the College Assessment Program campus retention efforts and both departmental and campus policies.
- May teach simulation/skills lab and/or didactic course content under supervision of course coordinator.
- Professionalism and Collaboration
- Serve as a professional role model for other faculty staff and students.
- Utilize relationship skills in situations requiring group problem solving consensus building and win-win negotiation.
- Work with college administration staff and other faculty members to improve the overall operation of the college and student satisfaction rates.
- Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
- Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
- Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
- Report to the dean or assistant dean with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
- Handle related duties and perform other duties as assigned comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications :
- A Masters in Nursing (MSN) or doctoral degree (DNP/PhD) in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
- An unencumbered California RN nursing license
- California Board of Registered Nursing Faculty Approval is required to teach. If you are not already approved by the BRN you may apply for approval to teach on the BreEZe website where you renew you RN license by choosing CA faculty approval under the Registered Nurse drop down
- Actice California Public Health Nursing license
- Active BLS certification (American Heart Association American Red Cross or Military Training Network)
- At least two years professional experience within last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse
Additional Information :
n support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country the expected compensation rate for this position is $65 per hour for the first 8-hours per day and $97.50 per hour overtime for any hours worked over 8 per day.
