Job Description
Saint Lukes North Hospital in Kansas City Missouri is currently hiring aPharmacy Buyer. Under the supervision of a pharmacist this role is responsible for a wide range of purchasing duties including electronic drug procurement receiving and processing orders managing charge-credit transactions and engaging with pharmaceutical representatives. The Pharmacy Buyer ensures the procurement of medications and supplies aligns with departmental standards and Saint Lukes Health System (SLHS) policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze purchasing documents to determine departmental needs specifications quantities and delivery timelines.
- Maintain cost-effective purchasing practices identifying appropriate alternatives for medications affected by shortages backorders or high cost.
- Place direct drug and supply orders with pharmaceutical vendors including occasional negotiation on pricing and delivery terms.
- Collaborate with the primary wholesaler to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Notify supervisor and pharmacy staff of critical drug shortages and backorders in a timely manner.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies related to pricing or quantities received and process returns for damaged or incorrect shipments.
- Coordinate the removal and return of recalled pharmaceutical products.
- Stay up-to-date on regulations related to the 340B Drug Pricing Program and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance (for eligible facilities).
