POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Scientist at JHACH is a doctoral-prepared nurse who provides leadership consultation supervision and oversight in all aspects of nursing research to frontline staff at all levels throughout the JHACH academic health system. The Director collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer/V.P. for Patient Care Services the Nursing Inquiry Council JHACH Quality Sub Council JHACH Institutional Review Board (IRB) and shared governance councils to ensure an organizational culture that encourages supports and supervises the development of research and EBP pursuit of funding as appropriate the conduct of the research/EBP project and dissemination of findings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Nursing (or Related Field) or DNP. Graduate degree in nursing education/leadership preferred. Certification as a Profession Developmental Specialist or Certified Nurse Educator preferred.
  • Current licensure in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Provider.
  • Five or more years of experience in nursing required. Four or more years of experience as a Nurse Researcher required. Principal investigator on externally funded research preferred.
  • Experience in pediatric/neonatal nursing. Experience in publishing research results in peer reviewed scholarly journals.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word Excel PowerPoint) and virtual platforms (i.e. Zoom Teams).
  • Leadership/managerial experience supervising and mentoring. Experience in leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of leadership skills required for strategic operational and contingency planning at the department institute and organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of management of personnel and fiscal resources.
  • Extensive knowledge of all phases of the research and EBP process methodology and design.
  • Knowledge of instrument development and psychometric testing.
  • Knowledge of survey methods and questionnaire design as applied to research studies.
  • Knowledge and experience in dissemination of research findings through written publications poster and podium presentations.
  • Ability to provide constructive scientific review of research studies and EBP projects submitted by other investigators for feasibility ethical standards related to the protection of human subjects and scientific merit.
  • Ability to lead coach supervise and mentor frontline staff with inquiry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult learning principles EBP teaching strategies and evaluation of learning outcomes.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of a Magnet-designated nursing organization and the ability to provide guidance and support to achieve and maintain designation

Salary Range: Minimum 49.54/hour - Maximum 76.79/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
