Job Summary

This is a full-time 19 month contract position from December 2025 June 2027.

The Position:

Reporting to the Manager AccountingOperations this position plays a key role in the Accounting functions forHavergal College The Havergal College Foundation and Havergal College US Fundsupporting Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Retail Store and GeneralAccounting.

Specific Accountabilities:

Month-to-Month

  • Ensureaccounting transactions and data entry documents meet generally accepted accountingprinciples.
  • Responsiblefor recording all bank receipts interests fees and charges.
  • Support themonth-end closing process including preparing and posting journals to thegeneral ledger.
  • MaintainFixed Asset Register Prepayment Schedules Deferred Accounts Schedules andCapital Contributions.
  • Creates andrecords Organizational Invoices (Non-Tuition Revenue).
  • Preparationof Monthly Internal Financial Statements.
  • Reconciliationof Balance Sheet and Operating Statement Accounts and sub-ledgers.
  • Performmonthly grant matching exercise.
  • Management ofproject codes.

Annual

  • Assist withannual audits for College and Foundation and Pension.
  • Assist withyear-end closing procedures.
  • Preparationof Annual Returns (T3010) for College and Foundation.
  • Coordinateannual College Tax Receipting process for eligible Religious EducationDonations and Childcare receipts.
  • CoordinateAnnual Student Enrollment Process including applying scholarship and bursaryawards to student accounts.
  • Review donorlistings for annual publications.
  • SupportAnnual financial planning process.
  • AdministerBoarder Health Insurance Coverage and Tuition Insurance Plan.

Ad-Hoc

  • Assist withadministration and development of financial policies and process improvements.
  • Assist withfinancial reporting for Senior Leadership Board and Board Committees.
  • Assist inGreen & Gold (school retail store) as required.
  • Assist otherFinance functions as needed.
  • Training ofAccounting Analysts.
  • Train membersof faculty and staff on the Havergal purchase order system.
  • Specialprojects as required.
  • Other dutiesas assigned.

Qualifications Knowledge and Experience

  • Accounting education or equivalent working experience.
  • Working towards or completion of professional accounting designation(CPA).
  • Minimum three years related experience of full cycle accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting.
  • Practical knowledge of accounting practices and relevant governmentlegislation including CRA charitable tax receipt guidelines.
  • Expert Excel skills and experience using databases building queriesetc.
  • Proven problem-solving analytical skills and strong attention todetail are a necessity.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities meet tight deadlines and adaptin a busy changing office environment.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service focus.
  • Ability to work successfully both in a team environment as well asindependently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a high standard of discretion dealing with confidentialinformation.
