Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrical Engineer to support a critical defense program based in Dayton OH. This is a hands-on role for someone ready to bridge digital designs into real-world applications focused on electrical integration environmental compliance and system-level validation for flight-ready hardware.
Youll work across multiple disciplines bringing deep technical knowledge to areas such as power distribution wiring harness design EMI/EMC compliance and lab testing. This role is ideal for an engineer experienced in Department of Defense (DoD) programs and familiar with aerospace electrical standards.
What Youll Do:
- Hardware & Wiring Integration:
Design and update electrical schematics cable assemblies and interface documentation for critical subsystems. - Power Analysis:
Conduct load calculations and apply proper circuit protection to meet stringent military power standards (MIL-STD-704/1275). - Lab & Bench Testing:
Assemble and troubleshoot hardware units verify power systems update firmware and run instrumentation setups (oscilloscopes analyzers). - Environmental & EMI/EMC Readiness:
Assist in qualification testing including vibration thermal and EMI/EMC per military standards (MIL-STD-810/461). - Documentation & Configuration Management:
Maintain up-to-date interface control documents bills of material and design changes within government-approved digital engineering tools. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with internal teams and external partners to resolve integration issues and support flight-readiness across product releases.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship (due to security clearance requirements)
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- High School Diploma 15 years of directly related experience (5 years in DoD) OR BA/BS 10 years of related experience (3 years in DoD)
- Proficient in MIL-STD-704/1275 (power) and MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC)
- Familiarity with aerospace wiring standards and connectors (e.g. 38999/26482 AS50881)
- Experience with E-CAD tools (e.g. Altium OrCAD)
- Skilled in lab-based testing and electrical fault isolation
Preferred Experience:
- Background in airborne networking SATCOM or crypto hardware
- Exposure to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environments
- Experience with RMF documentation or safety-of-flight packages
- Wire harness certification (IPC/WHMA-620 or NASA-STD-8739)
