We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to join our growing Developments team! Based at NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire.

The Developments team are a key part of our eCommerce function implementing testing and building on the user experience of our website and App! Plus managing the requirements of our partnered brands and the overall content of our website!

About the Role:


As a Product Owner at NEXT you will take ownership of the on-site search experience across our digital platforms - driving its delivery optimisation and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Product Manager for Product Discovery youll play a key role in shaping how customers find and explore products ensuring our search functionality is intuitive high performing and commercially impactful. This role blends strategic product thinking with hands-on operational management and youll work closely with cross functional teams including engineering UX data science and trading. Together youll ensure the search experience meets customer needs enhances commercial performance and aligns seamlessly with our broader digital roadmap.

What else is involved

  • Own the roadmap and daily operations for the Search product stream.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to translate strategic goals into actionable deliverables and measurable outcomes.
  • Partner closely with development teams to refine requirements prioritise features and support technical delivery.
  • Conduct backlog management and prioritisation based on customer insights analytics and business objectives.
  • Support the optimisation of on-site search results filters and ranking logic to enhance product discovery and conversion.
  • Work with stakeholders in UX Trading Data Science and Marketing to ensure search outcomes reflect business priorities and customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts to create user stories acceptance criteria and success metrics for continuous improvement cycles.
  • Facilitate workshops and cross-functional sessions to align on customer journeys innovation and technical feasibility.
  • Proactively manage risks dependencies and communication across teams to ensure smooth delivery.

About You:

  • Proven years of experience in eCommerce or a related digital product environment.
  • Experience in product ownership product management or project management.
  • Technical understanding of how search systems operate (e.g. indexing relevancy tuning ranking algorithms filters facets).
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with development teams understanding technical trade-offs and constraints.
  • Prior commercial experience within a retail environment ideally in Merchandising or Trading with exposure to maintaining product sort orders search results and filters.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities with proven ability to influence across teams.
  • Data-driven and analytical mindset able to interpret search metrics and customer behaviour to guide decision making.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills with a proactive approach to removing blockers and driving outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment with evolving priorities.
