About the role
Wyndham City Council has an exciting and challenging opportunity for you to be part of the innovative Building Services Unit. The Building Services Unit is currently seeking a Cadet Building Surveyor to join their energetic and dedicated team in providing high quality statutory and building permit services.


Reporting to the Team Leader - Statutory Building you will contribute to the success of the unit by providing accurate technical advice on statutory and building permit matters to rate payers and builders together with performing administrative and technical functions for Building Services.

This is a great opportunity to kick-start your career and to gain valuable experience in building surveying.


What your day will look like

  • Excellent customer service

  • Clear and appropriate responses to customer enquiries

  • Support to other team members

  • Effective time management of own workload

  • Accurate and timely assessments of a variety of applications


What you will bring

  • Knowledge of building construction and terminology

  • Completed or currently undertaking studies as a Building Inspector or Building Surveyor

  • Possess a basic understanding of the Building Act Building Regulations Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive proactive and flexible attitude

If you progress past the interview stage you may be required to complete pre-employment screening which may include police checks a medical qualification verification and an Australian work rights check.
