About the job

Advantra is partnering with an early stage computational biology startup in San Francisco to hire an AI Software Engineer to develop AI-enabled workflows across the platform.

About the role

You will lead development of AI systems that support planning execution and analysis pipelines for biotech and pharma researchers. You will expand the copilot for computational biology improve reliability and tailor workflows to customer needs. You will collaborate with founders and researchers to ensure the platform meets user requirements at scale.

Responsibilities

Design and implement AI-enabled workflows for computational biology.
Build end-to-end scalable AI systems supporting hundreds of tenants.
Develop and optimize pipelines for data analysis and simulation.
Collaborate with founders and researchers to define feature requirements.
Perform prompt engineering and fine-tuning for LLMs.
Maintain and improve system reliability and performance at scale.
Implement frontend features using React or .
Troubleshoot production issues and optimize workflows.
Document architecture workflows and processes.

Core requirements

3 years software engineering experience with AI or ML systems.
Experience building end-to-end scalable AI systems in production.
1 year experience with LLM prompt engineering and fine-tuning.
Experience developing web applications using React or .
Ability to design and execute complex data analysis pipelines.
Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in production systems.
Experience in fast-paced startup or small engineering team environments.
Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to diverse problems.
Located in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area.

Nice to have

Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS GCP Azure).
DevOps or MLOps experience with Docker Conda or Kubernetes.
Experience with AI/ML systems for computational biology or biotech workflows.
Frontend deployment experience (Vercel or similar).
Knowledge of multi-tenant production environments.
