Resident Service Specialist

We are hiring an Resident Service Specialist for one of our clients.

Job Description:

• The Resident Services Specialist provides direct support and guidance to individuals residing in the homeless shelter and hypothermia support locations ensuring their well-being and progress towards self-sufficiency.
• This role involves assisting residents with daily needs addressing immediate concerns monitoring compliance with shelter rules supporting resource distribution and de-escalating conflicts.
• The Specialist also connects residents with appropriate resources facilitates access to services and encourages participation in programs that promote stability and personal growth.
• The Specialist is also responsible for completing necessary reports and documentation for each scheduled shift.
• This position may require standing walking and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds. Eleanor U.
• Kennedy Shelter 9155 Richmond Hwy Fort Belvoir VA 22060 Baileys Shelter - 5914 Seminary Rd Falls Church VA 22041 Mondloch Place/Mondloch House - 3510 Lockheed Blvd Alexandria VA 22306 Hypothermia Season (11/15 - 3/31) - Various Locations in East and South Fairfax County based upon a rotating schedule of supporting places of worship. Schedule: - hours the assignment will have: Full time 40hrs a week various shifts (8am-4pm 4pm-12am 12am-8am) Part time 14 24hr and /or on-call End Date: TBD (1-3 month assignment) How many positions are needed: several positions needed Length of Assignment: TBD (1-3 month assignment) Travel Required: travel to various locations in the County may be required OT Expected: TBD but potential for OT Would the selected candidate drive for this assignment: No Would the selected candidate be handling money: No Would the selected candidate be lifting climbing etc: Yes up to 20lbs to support at the shelter locations and participating hypothermia sites.

Skills Required:

• Experience working with adults experiencing homeless diagnosed with behavior health disorders or are substance dependent.
• Counseling and crisis intervention skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Basic computers skills tp maintain data in a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Experience Required:

• 2 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Education Required:

• High School Diploma

Education Preferred:

• Bachelors degree in human service field
