Job Summary

We are hiring an Street Outreach Worker for one of our clients.

Job Description:

A Street Outreach Worker provides comprehensive street outreach services to persons experiencing homelessness: services include crises intervention provision of basic needs access to emergency shelter transportation client advocacy service linkage and more. Be able to provide strengths based case management to individuals who are seeking permanent housing while problem solving potential barriers. Be able to complete relevant housing applications with clients Kennedy Shelter: 9155 Richmond Highway Alexandria VA 22060 Baileys Shelter: 5914 Seminary Rd Falls Church VA 22041 Various locations in Fairfax County. Outreach Workers primarily work outside of the office on the streets and / or in a vehicle. The position is not approved for remote or hybrid work based upon the tasks assigned to the role. . Schedule: - hours the assignment will have: Full time. Position will work a varied schedule in order to support outreach efforts. The position would work an 8 hour shift on an approved schedule between 8am-7pm. Start Date: ASAP End Date: TBD (1-3 month assignment) OT Expected: TBD but potential for OT Would the selected candidate drive for this assignment: Yes Would the selected candidate be handling money: No Would the selected candidate be lifting climbing etc: yes

Skills Required:

Experience working with adults experiencing homeless diagnosed with behavior health disorders or are substance dependent.
Ability to engage with clients on streets under bridges in homeless camps in jail in hospital and other outreach locations.
Counseling and crisis intervention skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Basic computers skills to maintain data in a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Experience Required:

Two years experience with homeless population

Experience Preferred:

Previous experience providing street outreach services case management or human services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Education Required:

Bachelor s degree in human service field

Additional Information:

The role will also support drop-in services through a scheduled rotation with shelter case management staff to engaged individuals who walk-in seeking services toward resolving their experience of homelessness.
