Job Summary
The Production Specialist role is designed as a developmental step between Senior Operator and Lead Hand. This position requires advanced technical knowledge troubleshooting ability and process expertise to support daily operations train team members and assist with shift coordination. The Specialist serves as a resource to Operators/team members and provides backup support to the Lead Hand as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Possess full knowledge of the Operator position and act as a technical resource for the team.
- Perform Co-Ex setup including breakdown/assembly of co-extrusion dies and centering for even coating thickness.
- Run and oversee up to five production lines with efficiency above STAKA standards as needed.
- Support all production lines in multiple production areas.
- Perform mature article changes troubleshooting corrective actions and root cause analysis.
- Conduct specialized quality testing including longitudinal reversion of PEX pipes (shrinkage test) and EVOH thickness checks.
- Handle non-conforming product create BMs and ensure corrective action documentation is followed.
- Navigate EVF system move/find orders and assist in shift planning and article changes.
- Respond to PDV emails and take action to prevent reoccurrence.
- Act as backup for Lead Hand responsibilities when required including shift setup and team direction.
- Support additional production areas (Sleeve Room Direct Dosing Mixing Room Teflonizing PIP Automation Packaging and Raumat Automation) by troubleshooting issues or running equipment when needed.
- Assist with contingency response plans including awareness of procedure locations and responses.
- Collaborate with operators to troubleshoot issues provide advanced training and help develop team members.
- Direct resource for team members and be able to oversee team member activities.
- Lead or assist with Root Cause analysis
Required Qualifications
- Must be a midpoint Senior Operator or higher to apply.
- Demonstrated ability to run and troubleshoot multiple lines.
- Advanced knowledge of Co-Ex dies setups and article changes.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and mentor operators effectively.
- Willingness to complete external training as required.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience in advanced troubleshooting across multiple production areas.
- Familiarity with automation packaging and Raumat automation machines (ability to learn required).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to step into Lead Hand duties when needed.
Growth Path
This role is a developmental position intended to prepare employees for Lead Hand opportunities. Specialists will work closely with Lead Hands and Supervisors on audits scrap reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work Schedule
- Overtime and weekend support may be required.
Shift will be staggered with lead hand (example Days 6:30-18:30 or 7:00-19:00 tbd) (Nights 18:30-06:30 or 19:00-19:30)
