Join our growing Transportation team in Saskatoon! In this role you will gain hands-on field experience by supporting construction inspection and survey activities for urban roadway drainage and highway projects. You will also contribute to as-built documentation and contract administration tasks to ensure successful project delivery.
You will work closely with our local team of professional and technical staff in the delivery of design and construction projects for various public and private sector clients. We are committed to providing you with on-the-job training and mentoring in a supportive team atmosphere.
Primary responsibilities
- Assist with construction inspection on active transportation projects ensuring work is performed in accordance with plans specifications and quality standards
- Support survey crews with layout measurements and data collection using GPS and total station equipment
- Record and track daily site activities including quantities contractor progress and work progress
- Document construction activities through field notes photos and inspection reports
- Assist with identifying and reporting deficiencies safety concerns and schedule impacts
- Prepare as-built CAD drawings and update project records as required
- Support contract administration tasks such as reviewing quality control documentation and preparing closeout documents
Qualifications :
- Student currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technologies Diploma Program
- Interested in construction inspection surveying and contract administration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and have demonstrated teamwork skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions at times away from the office location
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways City of Saskatoon and City of Regina Specifications is considered an asset
- Strong Microsoft Office suite skills (Word Excel PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD is considered an asset
- A valid Saskatchewan drivers license
The salary for this position ranges from $21 to $23.50 per hour depending on your academic profile the number of credits earned and your previous co-op or internship experience.
