Job Summary

Job Purpose:

Performs assembly of all products within the Production area using specialized assembly machines

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of established SPC processes for the product being produced
  • Interprets and performs functions per product process plans and complex engineering prints
  • Performs a wide variety of assembly/support on electronic electro-mechanical mechanical or measurement systems.
  • Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring component installation hand soldering cable harnessing welding and fitting on assembly units.
  • Test and production machine setups performed while adhering to tolerancing stated in component/assembly drawings.
  • Be able to demonstrate above average manual dexterity and the ability to work with very small parts
  • Testing/R&D of Company and competitors products and components
  • Separates non-conforming product from conforming product. 
  • Knowledge of quality system documentation and the interrelation of the complete quality system.
  • Meets the required rate of production over 80% for the product being produced.
  • May be responsible for closing jobs and pulling production schedule for the team
  • Requisitions and communicates maintenance needs for special set-up and complicated machine adjustments. 
  • Compliance and participation in all Smiths Connectors EHS programs policies procedures and training requirements.

Qualifications :

Technical Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • 5 years of experience in assembly soldering under a microscope and working with wire connectors
  • Ability to interpret and perform assembly functions
  • Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions
  • above average manual dexterity and the ability to work with very small parts
  • Ability to work with others
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination

Planning and Decision Making:

  • Maintain work schedules that will meet customer requirements.
  • Adapt to daily changes in production and meet shipping schedules.
  • Flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination.

Impact and Scope: 

  • Communication with Lead and Supervisor with issues that will compromise quality.
  • SIKC Location as well as other Smiths Interconnect stakeholders

Key Internal & External Stakeholders & Relationships

  • Work with Lead and Supervisor to meet production demands 
  • Direct report to Lead/Supervisor

Other Requirements:

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

  • Good or corrected vision.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move up to 25 lbs.
  • Able to handle moderate levels of stress.
  • Adequate manual dexterity to assemble extremely small parts and operate specialized assembly tools.
