Job Title: Neurodiagnostic Intraoperative Monitoring Specialist
Position Summary:
Under limited supervision and following established procedures this role performs a variety of routine and complex intraoperative neurodiagnostic procedures to assist physicians and surgeons in identifying neurological functional or dysfunctional changes during surgery. The specialist must be proficient in all areas of intraoperative monitoring and communicate effectively with surgical and anesthesia teams. This position also includes standby calls for the EEG Lab.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Associate degree in life sciences.
- Registered Electroencephalographic Technician (REEGT) by ABRET within 24 months of hire.
- Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) or registry in Evoked Potentials required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers (AHA ARC or Military Training Network) required at hire.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience recording evoked potential procedures in an operating room; 4 years preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate understanding of medical terminology and troubleshooting skills.
- Provide neurodiagnostic services for all age groups (Neonate through Geriatric) following ASET guidelines.
- Coordinate surgical workflow and schedule for the department.
- Deliver continuous feedback to surgeons during procedures and notify neurologists as needed.
- Document physiologic hemodynamic anesthetic and artifactual changes during surgery.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy and evoked potential modalities to monitor structures at risk.
- Manage revenue processes including charge capture reconciliation and accurate documentation in EHR.
- Assist with training new employees in department modalities.
- Maintain intraoperative monitoring on-call schedule.
