Facilitators for PRISM III Grades 4-5 Scaffolds PLC
Description: The Facilitators for PRISM III Grades 4-5 Scaffolds PLC will serve as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) Facilitator for teachers in grades 45. The facilitator will guide a 4 week PLC cycle focused on identifying planning and implementing appropriate scaffolds to support all learners including multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Each session will be one hour long and will meet from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the CKLA Grades 4-5 Curriculum
- Experience with leading professional development;
- Deep knowledge of scaffolding strategies and instructional practices that support diverse learners.
Preferred qualifications:
- Current assignment as an Instructional or ELL Coach that works directly with grades 4 and 5 on the implementation of CKLA.
- Strong growth mindset and collaborative skills
- Student-centered approach to literacy instruction with high expectations for student achievement.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and 4 facilitate weekly PLC sessions for grades 45 teachers with clear agendas aligned to the PLC goals. Sessions should be completed by January 15 2026
- Lead discussions that help teachers analyze student work and identify areas where scaffolds can improve access to grade-level content.
- Model effective scaffolding strategies (e.g. sentence frames visual supports guided practice chunking tasks and differentiated questioning).
- Support teachers in developing lesson adjustments and scaffolding plans connected to CKLA.
- Foster a collaborative reflective environment where teachers share successes challenges and refine practices.
- Document meeting notes action steps and evidence of teacher learning and student impact.
- Communicate progress and outcomes of the PLC cycle to building and district leadership.
Working Time/Modality: Up to 20 Hours ($800) to be completed by January 15 2025. Dates for the four meetings are TBD. Additionally asynchronous work will be required to plan meetings.
Compensation: up to 20 hours or a total of $800 per person (based on the number of coaches). Stipend paid as one sum at the end of the completed professional development by the end of January 2026.
