SUMMARY:The Crisis Response Worker in the Mobile Crisis Team provides phone and in person crisis intervention services to youth their families and caregivers in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Team members ensure all work is carried out within a trauma and resiliency-informed framework promoting a culturally proficient approach when working with youth their families and caregivers. Choice and control are priorities of The Link and the MCT provides youth with the tools to foster emotional well-being and help youth navigate their personal journeys.

PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer crisis line assess and provide interventions both on the phone and in the community as well as referrals to appropriate and timely resources and supports.
  • Work with youth and caregivers provide on-site intervention including mediation safety plans and follow-up plans for youth and their families/caregivers in crisis situations.
  • Work in consultation with external agencies and other Youth Crisis Stabilization System staff to ensure continuity and communication throughout systems.
  • Provide consultation and recommendations to collaterals such as external service providers cultural supports Childrens Mental Health Child and Family Services schools probation and police services.
  • Maintain open communication within the organization and fulfill administrative duties as assigned.
  • Maintain professional development through reading attending workshops and peer and clinical consultation on a regular basis.
  • Work as a team member to ensure that the youth and families we serve are well supported and that continuity of care and follow-up are a primary focus.
  • Represent the Youth Crisis Stabilization System program both within and outside of The Link.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the impacts of historical and ongoing trauma on Indigenous peoples in Canada.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention mediation de-escalation techniques as well as community supports and resources within Winnipeg and the surrounding area with a focus on Indigenous peoples newcomers people with disabilities and others who experience systemic marginalization.
  • Post-secondary education and/or a combination of education work experience and lived experience will be considered.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check all done within the last 3 months.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Crisis De-escalation Training or willingness to obtain.

**Valid drivers license and use of personal vehicle is a requirement for this position**

SALARY RANGE:$53175.01 - $74651.25

HOURS OF WORK:80 hoursbiweekly with varied shifts including: days evenings weekends and holidays.
