Loras College invites applications for an adjunct faculty member to teach one course in the Coaching Leadership graduate program in the Spring 2026 semester: CLD 505-Sport Nutrition. This course is delivered exclusively online in an asynchronous format and is part of the required curriculum for the Masters in Coaching Leadership Program. - Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college will carry out your functions of your position in support of the Colleges Catholic Identity mission and in support of Church teachings.
- Teach assigned course as specified in the schedule and course contract.
- Participate in welcome orientation to become familiar with the Universitys mission academic policies and procedures expectations and Learning Management System eLearn (Moodle).
- Clearly communicate course objectives and learning outcomes teaching methodology and assignments and deadlines.
- Employ a variety of teaching styles to effectively deliver course content demonstrating both academic and real-world applications of concepts covered.
- Encourage active learning through discussion topics class assignments group projects etc.
- Provide feedback and grade assignments to students in a timely and thorough manner (within 24-48 hrs.).
- Outreach to students who are not submitting assignments or showing other evidence of active engagement in the class.
- Report early alerts for students who are not actively engaging in the course.
- Establish digital office hours to provide additional assistance with student questions/concerns.
- Ability to legally work in the US. Applicants who require sponsorship will not be considered.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters degree in Exercise Science Nutrition Physiology Public Health Dietetics or another relevant field is required. Coaching experience and experience teaching online or in a hybrid format is also preferred.
- Student-centered approach and passion for teaching and mentoring a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Nutrition or Nutritional Sciences Exercise Physiology/ Exercise Science Kinesiology Physiology or Public Health with a nutrition focus
- Teaching experience in an online setting at a higher education institution
- Experience with assessment of student learning
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with integrating instructional technology into classroom experiences
- Ability to use learning management systems effectively to teach assess and communicate with students
