Facilitators for PRISM III Grades 4-5 Looking at Student Work PLC

Description: The PRISM III Grades 4-5 Looking at Student Work facilitators will lead a series of four structured meetings with teachers in grades 4-5. The purpose of these meetings is to collaboratively analyze student work identify instructional strengths and needs and support teachers in refining instructional practices that improve student outcomes.

Facilitators will meet with the K-8 Director of ELA and Literacy to develop a scope and sequence for the session. The PLC will meet for four weeks from 3:30-4:30. Dates for this are TBD. Facilitators will report to Louise DeSisto K-8 Director of ELA/Literacy regarding this offering.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the CKLA Grades 4-5 Curriculum
  • Experience with leading professional development using the Looking at Student Work Protocol.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Current assignment as an Instructional or ELL Coach that works directly with grades 4 and 5 on the implementation of CKLA.
  • Strong growth mindset and collaborative skills
  • Student-centered approach to literacy instruction with high expectations for student achievement.

Essential Duties:

  • Plan and facilitate four 60-minute meetings with teachers in grades 4-5 by January 15 2025.
  • Guide teachers in examining student work samples to assess alignment to grade-level standards and instructional goals using the districts Looking at Student Work Protocol.

  • Support teachers in identifying patterns trends and gaps in student learning across classrooms.

  • Model the approved Looking at Student Work district protocol for collaborative analysis of student work.

  • Ensure meetings remain focused equitable and solution-oriented fostering a professional culture of reflection and shared accountability.

  • Document key insights and next steps from each session and share summaries with teachers and leadership.

  • Provide recommendations for instructional adjustments or targeted supports based on findings from student work analysis.

Working Time/Modality: Up to 20 Hours ($800) to be completed by January 15 2025. Dates for the four meetings are TBD. Additionally asynchronous work will be required to plan meetings.

Compensation: up to 20 hours or a total of $800 per person (based on the number of coaches). Stipend paid as one sum at the end of the completed professional development in December 2025.
