About the Role

The main purpose of the role is to promote health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities through addressing the wider determinants of health.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to recognise pursue and evaluate opportunities for creating healthy places for our residents to live work and socialise working with key partners and stakeholders to achieve this.

About You

To apply for this post you must:

  • Hold a masters in public health or equivalent postgraduate qualification. (e.g. Planning/Environmental Health)
  • Feel comfortable working at senior level within Public Health representing the department at key meetings and deputising for the Public Health Specialist as required.
  • Understand the interfaces between health and wider environmental determinants impact on health inequalities and role of Health Impact Assessment.
  • Have the ability to engage with internal and external partners respond to consultations and provide public health representation on spatial planning policy planning applications for major developments land use and transport infrastructure.
  • Have experience of working with a Local Authority Public Health or multiagency partnership setting with relevant experience of Planning policy environmental planning and/or Public Health.
  • Have clear decisive and persuasive communication skills both written and verbal and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to manage projects and deliver project outputs in a systemised way to ensure work is delivered and prioritised effectively.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.
