Job Summary:
The Multi-modality Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations across multiple specialties including abdominal obstetrics/gynecology cardiac vascular musculoskeletal and small parts. The sonographer evaluates patient history determines the appropriate imaging procedure and ensures accurate diagnostic imaging. The role requires independent judgment technical knowledge and a strong commitment to patient care and safety.
Responsibilities: - Perform basic to advanced ultrasound imaging procedures in multiple modalities (e.g. abdominal OB/GYN cardiac vascular MSK).
- Review and assess patient history and clinical indications to determine appropriate imaging techniques.
- Tailor and expand ultrasound exams based on preliminary findings and clinical necessity.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
- Ensure proper patient identification preparation and safety throughout procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to deliver accurate and timely diagnostic information.
- Document and maintain accurate patient records exam data and sonographic images.
- Adhere to all infection control safety and compliance standards within the imaging department.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced sonographers or trainees if applicable.
Required Qualifications: Education:
- Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program
OR - Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience beyond entry-level qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical sonography experience required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Must be current or obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer
- Must possess at least TWO of the following certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS)
- ARRT-S (Sonography)
- ARRT-VI (Interventional Radiology)
- Musculoskeletal Sonography (MSK)
- Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS-PE)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Abdomen (RDMS-AB)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Breast (RDMS-BR)
- RDMS Fetal Echocardiography (RDMS-FE)
- RDMS OB/GYN (RDMS-OB)
- RDMS Pediatric Sonography (RDMS-PS)
- Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS)
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
