Were seeking an experienced insurance and risk professional to step into a key role within local government. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead insurable risk and claims management while helping embed a positive risk culture across the organisation.
As the Senior Insurance Officer youll:
Lead and coordinate insurance claims management across the organisation
Provide timely advice to staff residents insurers and legal representatives
Analyse claims data and deliver reporting to highlight risk exposures and trends
Drive improvements to claims management systems and processes
Support the organisations Risk Management Framework and compliance activities
Build strong relationships to promote a risk-aware culture
Youll bring:
Tertiary qualifications in risk management business management or a related field or substantial relevant experience
Background in insurance risk management claims management or quality assurance (AS/NZS ISO 31000 preferred)
Strong analytical and report writing skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to manage challenging conversations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a strong eye for detail
Temporary full-time contract until 27 November 2025 (parental leave backfill)
Band 6 hourly rate $49.41 25% casual loading super
Work with a supportive Legal & Governance team on meaningful community-focused projects
Police Check
Working with Children Check
Current Drivers Licence
