What you will do:
You will be responsible for designing coding testing debugging and documenting IBM i development tools using RPG and related languages. You will be participating in the development as a part of the team and working independently on projects.
In your day-to-day you will be responsible for:
- Work directly with the clientto help craft approaches and solutions with the development team add clarity to client systems when questions arise from other teammembers
- Conforming to client SDLC processes and procedures
- Assistingin the design development testing and maintenance of softwaresystems.
- Working with other developers on the team to help remove technical blockers from them completing their work; this sometimes include working directly with clients to understand various impacts/ business logic that need to be resolved so development canprogress
- Following Freschemethodologyfor all keeping industry coding standards and best practices in mind when working on all projects.
- Creating user-defined functions through TDOMS and promoted w/ theprograms we arechanging:research as every situation is different (sometimes if wedidntchange the program we just need to create the user defined function directly)
- Conducting code reviews for table / logical filechanges
- Maintaining separate (outside of TDOMS) promotion path asrequired
- Performing various levels of testing to ensure correctness of software systems using various means of automated and manual testing such as unit testing integration testing acceptance testing smoke testingetc.
- Participating in code reviews on work produced by other team members and work closely with QA to perform test planreviews.
- Proactively play a supporting role in managing our clients expectations concerns and/or questions.
- Documenting new and existing applications and systems through a combination of textual explanations and visual diagrams of varying levels of detail depending on the target audience.
What you must have:
- 15 years with a proventrack recordof IBMi(iSeries AS/400) DB2 database and RPGLE language (free-form and fix-form syntax)
- Strong understanding of ERP Systems and Supply Chain
- Recent programming and analysis experience in the following systems: RPGILE Free and fixed format RPGLE SQL and embedded SQL within RPG
- Advanced DB2 Application Programming
- A good understanding of change management processes
- Effective communication with all levels of employees and management
- Eligibility to work inCanada.
- Be available to support Eastern Time zone business hours
Nice tohave (not required):
- Bilingual (English/French)
- MAESTRO ERP experience
