Theater at Midland provides a creative and welcoming outlet where students from across campus can perform design and contribute to high-quality productions.
Position Overview
The Director of Theatre will provide vision and leadership to the program by recruiting talented and passionate students developing productions that engage both campus and community audiences and mentoring students as they grow in their artistic and collaborative abilities. The Director may also teach courses in theatre or related areas depending on expertise and departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment: Actively recruit prospective students to participate in Midlands theatre program with particular emphasis on building relationships with high schools community programs and prospective students interested in combining theatre with a variety of academic paths.
- Program Leadership: Plan produce and direct theatre productions throughout the year ensuring meaningful and professional-quality experiences for students and audiences.
- Student Engagement: Inspire mentor and support students of all majors as they explore and develop their artistic and academic potential.
- Collaboration: Partner with colleagues in performing arts and other academic areas to create interdisciplinary opportunities in the arts.
- Instruction: Teach courses in theatre or related areas as appropriate.
- Administration: Manage program operations including scheduling budgeting and facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in theatre theatre Education or a related field required; Masters degree preferred.
- Experience in directing and producing theatre productions.
- Strong background in student recruitment and engagement.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A passion for working with students in a collaborative creative environment.
