Job Summary

Secondary Teacher - 1.0 Temp (ASAP until June 30 2026)

Classroom Teacher in a new Open Learning classroom at the House of Friendship in Duncan. Effective ASAP until June 30 2026. Teaching areas will include: English 9-12 (including English First Peoples) Math 9 Workplace Math 10 & 11 Social Studies 9 10 Art Science 9 10 Career Education 10 Career Life Connections 12 Physical Health Education 9 10. The successful candidate will also:

Provide foundational Literacy and Numeracy instruction and intervention
Provide outreach to district students in the form of home visits
Work collaboratively with an Indigenous Support worker
Create individual student learning plans (SLP) for all students in the class
Case manage and write IEPs for ministry-designated students
Weave Indigenous Principles of Learning into all classroom routines and curricular areas
Liaise with Nourish Cowichan to support a class food program
Liaise with House of Friendship to facilitate additional training and programming for students
