JOB SUMMARY

The Journey HVAC position plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation maintenance repair and installation of Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems. This role involves performing diagnostic inspections identifying faults and executing necessary repairs or equipment replacements to ensure optimal system functionality. The position will also provide guidance and training on the proper usage and maintenance of HVAC equipment to both staff and end-users. Additionally the position requires managing inventory to ensure the timely availability of materials and parts as well as ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with safety standards environmental regulations and manufacturer specifications.

To be successful in this role the incumbent must have strong problem-solving skills attention to detail the ability to work independently and demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid Utah State (DOPL) Journey HVAC license
  3. Four (4) years of job-related experience
  4. Knowledge and understanding of blueprints technical drawings and schematics
  5. Experience and ability to use hand tools and power tools
  6. Speak read write present professionally analyze understand and interpret written and verbal communications in English
  7. Basic experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel etc.) and experience using data-based software
  8. Utah drivers license and evidence of insurability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.

  1. Experience with industry-standard HVAC tools including electrical meters torches diagnostic equipment refrigerant recovery and vacuum pumps
  2. Four (4) years working as a Journey HVAC Technician
  3. EPA 608 Universal Certification
  4. Rocky Mountain Gas Association - RMGA Certification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform diagnostics repairs and installation of heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration and other support systems; evaluate equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs or replacements
  2. Conduct repairs and maintenance on various systems including but not limited to chillers boilers cooling towers air handlers rooftop units refrigeration units and digital control systems to ensure optimal functionality safety and operational efficiency
  3. Perform routine equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and safety checks to ensure that items are available in safe working condition and comply with legal mandates
  4. Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns
  5. Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects and work orders in an efficient and timely manner
  6. Complete work in accordance with federal state and local codes manufacturers recommendations and generally accepted HVAC and refrigeration principles
  7. Prepare and maintain documentation including refrigerant tracking records chiller logs and other relevant reports to ensure accurate record-keeping and information dissemination
  8. Ensures the availability of equipment diagrams and service manuals for diagnostic purposes and reports any modifications upgrades or updates as necessary
  9. Transport various items (e.g. tools equipment supplies etc.) to job sites to ensure the availability of materials required
  10. Maintain vehicle and tools in safe operating condition and stock equipment and supplies to maintain and track adequate inventory levelsto ensure availability
  11. Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees colleagues and stakeholders
  12. Participate in meetings workshops and seminars as assigned to convey or gather information required to perform job functions
  13. Work under limited supervision utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines
  14. Support a team environment by collaborating with ones own and other work units to effectively perform job duties
  15. Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions as required
  16. As needed roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 50 pounds
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  18. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing pulling climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling and fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting 5% crawling through tunnels 40% walking and 50% standing. The job is performed under temperature variations and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury or illness and may respond to district emergencies during irregular hours.
