Job Summary

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Intern - Business Development learns directly from experienced Business Development professionals. This position provides assistance with the planning and execution of events contributes to research and prospecting for new business and helps retain current customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Researches new business opportunities and assists in retaining existing business. This duty is performed daily about 35% of the time.
2. Provides assistance with sponsorship and in-kind requests. This duty is performed daily about 5% of the time.
3. Distributes marketing materials to prospects and customers. This duty is performed daily about 30% of the time.
4. Manages marketing closet inventory. This duty is performed daily about 20% of the time.
5. Purchases supplies and food for events. This duty is performed daily about 5% of the time.
6. Sets up and tears down for events. This duty is performed daily about 5% of the time.
7. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.
8. Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly.
9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area e.g. data processing clerical/administrative equipment operation etc. plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training and 1 to 6 months related management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions ratios and proportions to practical situations.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business or Communications with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Must be classified as a junior or senior at an accredited four-year university
- Must be able to lift carry push and pull 35-50 pounds substantial walking balancing standing turning stooping crouching and reaching
