Job Description Summary
The Painter will be responsible for use of spray painter or other equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metals or products. Mixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results. Completes finishing with baking polishing or other materials. Follows all required safety procedures. May paint items by hand as needed.Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean and prepare surfaces for the application of coatings and paints on aeroderivative gas turbine components and assemblies.
- Thorough knowledge of mixing maintaining and thinning of paint and coatings to ensure equipment is painted and protected according to manufacturers recommendations.
- Read and understand parts illustrated catalogs.
- Sandblasting of variety of surface materials.
- Ability to apply correct painting processes for the assigned task utilizing any equipment necessary to surface prep and paint on or off the aeroderivative gas turbine components.
- Ability to perform basic assembly and disassembly activities.
- Closely follow paint EHS precautions work instructions procedures and other technical documents.
- Maintain a clean work area by keeping it clear of all trash unused paint materials and properly disposal of waste per EHS standards.
- Able to communicate and interface with other departments such as quality.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have 2 years of Painting or Coating experience within an industrial capacity or similar industry.
- High school graduate or equivalent GED.
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to climb work at heights above grade bend stoop kneel squat and reach.
- Must operate any necessary equipment to perform the tasks assigned such as HVLP spray equipment pressure tanks material handling equipment (cranes forklifts) hand and power tools measuring devices etc.
- Required to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to safety shoes safety glasses hearing protection full-face respirator/helmet sand blasting jacket/pants/coverall or other painting suits and any other required PPE.
- Must be able to read and communicate in the English language.
- Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous working experience with aviation or aeroderivative paints coatings and surface preparation.
- Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice.
- Knowledge of aeroderivative engine and engine components.
