Summary:Mental Health Counselor willprovide direct counseling crisis intervention and case management services to adult learners experiencing emotional behavioral or psychological challenges. The counselor works collaboratively with individual students to develop treatment goals build coping strategies and promote overall mental health and wellness. This role also involves coordinating with community resources maintaining detailed documentation and supporting an inclusive trauma-informed environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
Masters degree in Counseling Psychology Social Work or related field.
Current state licensure (e.g. LMHC LCSW LPC LICSW or equivalent) or eligibility for licensure within one year.
Demonstrated experience providing individual or group counseling in a clinical or community setting.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care motivational interviewing and other evidence-based practices.
Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills.
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language).
Experience working with youth marginalized populations or in school/community-based settings.
Responsibilities:
Conduct intake assessments evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
Provide evidence-based counseling services to adult learners
Support students in developing healthy coping mechanisms improving communication skills and managing stress or trauma.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
Facilitate referrals to external mental health medical housing or social service resources as needed.
Conduct crisis interventions and safety planning for students in acute distress.
Participate in case conferences supervision and professional development activities.
Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in accordance with state laws and professional codes.
Promote a culturally responsive and strengths-based counseling approach.
