Job Summary

Nonotuck Community School is a full-time full year EEC licensed center-based early education and care program with five thriving classrooms. We care for children 15 months to 6 years in an environment that promotes self-esteem creative thinking and individuality through a respectful partnership between children parents and teachers. We are searching for a full time Assistant Director to augment the administrative team to fully support the staff children and families of our unique community. About Nonotuck Community SchoolAt Nonotuck children are the curriculum. Everything we do with children from helping them set up nap cots independently to learning to recognize their names is preparation for their continued growth and development and future academic success. We support childrens social-emotional well-being and believe that human connection is the core of healthy development. We believe that authentic learning comes through free play and exploration. Children are prepared to be active learners at Nonotuck through an emergent child-centered curriculum that encourages them to think question anticipate and predict. We emphasize the concept of community and teach children to celebrate their connections to one another. Nonotuck Community School is a parent cooperative where families share ownership of the School. Upon enrollment families take on co-op jobs to be caring stewards of the organization and facilities. The cooperative provides every family with the opportunity to participate in their childs education and shape the learning environment. Position Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director to support the daily operations and leadership at Nonotuck Community School. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing safe and developmentally appropriate environment for children and families to grow and thrive as well as a positive inclusive work environment for staff. Key Responsibilities:Support the Director in overseeing daily operations ensuring compliance with EEC regulations Coordinate staff scheduling and classroom coverage for teacher breaks and planning time including stepping into classrooms to support coverage as needed Assist with direct supervision training and performance evaluationsWork with the Director to foster a positive and inclusive environment for children families and staffAssist in observing classroom activities and provide coaching to teaching staff as neededWork with the Director to monitor curriculum implementation and ensure classrooms meet quality standardsWork with the Director to address parent concerns or questions professionallyWork with the Director and the Parent Liaison to coordinate parent co-op jobs Maintain accurate records including attendance children and staff files Assist the Director in initiating and maintaining systems for ordering and organizing supplies building maintenance classroom equipment materials and consumablesParticipate in monthly Board meetings staff meetings training sessions and family engagement events including occasional evenings and Skills:Strong organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities and communication skills both verbal and writtenExperience with successful conflict resolution strategiesProblem-solving mindset and ability to remain calm under pressureFamiliarity with child development assessments and quality improvement frameworks Demonstrated commitment to Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiatives including DEI curriculum for early childhood Qualifications:2- or 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in an early childhood education setting including 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experienceEEC Director I Certification (or eligible within 6 months of hire) CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain as soon as possible after hire) Knowledge of EEC licensing regulations and early childhood best practicesAbility to pass background checks and meet all EEC regulatory requirements*If you do not meet all listed qualifications but believe your experience education or training provides an equivalent foundation for success in the role we strongly encourage you to apply and explain why you believe your unique experience qualifies you for the :Competitive salary based on experience and educationSalary range: $55-60K Benefits package available: Health insurance (85% employer contribution)Dental insurance (50% employer contribution)2% employer contribution to Simple IRA Generous PTO including paid snow days sick time vacation time and personal timeNonotuck Community School is an equal opportunity employer.
