Researcher Beijing Bureau

Reuters is seeking an energetic Researcher with strong news judgment to join our Beijing team. Responsibilities include researching and monitoring news stories assisting field coverage and learning text and video production. The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent news judgment adept in research for both breaking news and longer pieces and skilled in visual storytelling. A background in quantitative research and proficiency in databases and analytical tools including AI is essential.

About the Role

In this opportunity as Researcher Beijing Bureau you will:

Monitor and highlight daily news coverage on Chinese media and social media
Work closely with the Reuters bureau contributing to breaking news coverage contacting potential interviewees and help sourcing third-party content when required.
Conduct in-depth research to conceptualise story ideas that can be developed into deeply reported and nuanced text and visual stories.
Collaborate with colleagues across Reuters operations in China including bureaux in Shanghai and Shenzhen.

About You

Youre a fit for the role of Researcher Beijing Bureau if you have the following required qualifications:

Have fluent English and Mandarin written and oral.
A track record of being an organized team player.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Are prepared to work with the text and visuals teams in the field when required.
Can assist in accreditation and logistics as needed.
Uphold Reuters Trust Principles of independence integrity and freedom from bias.
Have good communication skills strong team ethic diplomacy and collaboration.
