Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10000 individuals in Kern Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22000 square miles with a population of over 945000 people.


Public Records Administrator performs highly confidential responsible complex and varied administrative and analytical work in the development implementation and administration of a wide range of programs aimed at ensuring the regional centers compliance with their California Public Records Act (CPRA) obligations under the Disability Equity Transparency and Accountability Act of 2024 (Assembly Bill 1147). This position is responsible for overseeing coordinating analyzing processing evaluating and responding to public records requests for Kern Regional Center (KRC). This position will assist in developing implementing and updating policies and procedures related to records management. The position will frequently handle complex confidential and sensitive information and must be able to do so with tact and discretion.



Requirements

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelors degree public policy public administration political science business administration or a related field from an accredited school.
  • Five (5) years of professional administrative experience performing a variety of analytical functions such as program management policy analysis and organizational development preferably in a local government public or legal agency. Experience in public records act and/or principles of record retention retrieval and redaction will be considered.
  • Or any combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be able to stay overnight to hold meetings and attend trainings when necessary.
  • May be required to visit other locations.
