Job Summary
The MFIP Employment Counselor provides comprehensive ongoing case management to at least 60 families eligible for the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) through Hennepin County. The role is focused on helping participants achieve family stability and economic self-sufficiency using a person-centered strength-based approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of6070 MFIP-eligible families
- Buildlong-term trusting relationshipswith participants
- Conductcomprehensive assessmentsto identify strengths and needs
- Assist in developinggoal plansfor stability and self-sufficiency
- Usemotivational interviewingand coaching techniques
- Coordinateemployment placementsand training programs
- Maintainaccurate case notesand documentation in an online database
- Monitor participant progress throughweekly contactand data tracking
- Support and help organizeon-site workshops and events
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to adhere to HIPAA ADA and data privacy requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Ability to access and navigate online databases; Workforce One MAXIS and MEC2 experience a plus
- Must have valid drivers license and insurance
Education/ Experience
- Bachelors degree in Human Services-related field (related experience may substitute for degree)
- Minimum two years experience working with low-income families of diverse backgrounds and cultures
