We are seeking a talented Payroll Manager based in Solon Ohio. This role follows a hybrid in-office schedule eight days per month and reports directly to the Vice President of Total Rewards.
What youll do:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for or overseeing and managing all aspects of the companys payroll function to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee pay. This role ensures compliance with federal state and local payroll wage and hour laws and best practices. The Payroll Manager will lead payroll operations maintain system integrity manage audits and partner with HR and Finance on compensation and reporting needs. This position will have four direct reports three co-located in Ohio and one in Canada.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all U.S. (2150) and Canada (160) employees ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance with country federal state/province and local regulations. This includes year-end payroll activities.
- Maintain payroll data integrity including employee records tax information and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws regulations and internal policies.
- Manage payroll tax filings reconciliations and year-end processes (W-2s 1099s etc.).
- Partner with HR and Finance on payroll budgeting forecasting and cost analysis.
- Lead payroll audits and respond to internal/external inquiries.
- Oversee system configurations testing and upgrades within payroll/HRIS systems.
- Lead and develop a payroll team providing coaching guidance and performance management.
- Manage garnishments deductions and benefits-related pay adjustments.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll policies providing guidance to employees and management.
- Support integration of payroll with other HR and finance systems and process improvement initiatives.
What you need for success:
- Bachelors degree in accounting Finance OR equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a payroll team of two or more employees.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems (such as Workday ADP) and strong Excel skills.
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified Payroll professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
- Exceptional attention to detail accuracy and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Leadership skills with commitment to service and collaboration
