About the opportunity:
Reporting to the Roads Operations Supervisor the incumbent provides leadership to operational staff engaged in Roads Operations activities. The position is responsible for assigning supervising and evaluating the work of several groups of skilled workers equipment and vehicle operators and labourers engaged in fairly complex construction and maintenance tasks. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating projects with other City divisions and proactively contributing to the divisions short-term and long-range plans. Considerable independence and judgement are required in dealing with workplace problems and issues. This is a working Foremans position and the incumbent is expected to perform physical activities on a regular basis. Performs related duties as required.
About your background:
To be eligible candidates must have completed Grade 12 and participated in a Management Skills for Supervisors training program or an equivalent leadership program. A minimum of five years of experience directly related to street operations is required along with experience in budget preparation project coordination and planning activities. Additionally candidates should have at least four years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment. Applicants should possess considerable knowledge of the theories practices methods equipment and tools used in street operations as well as skills in the care and utilization of the relevant equipment and tools. The ability to lead train supervise and evaluate staff is essential. The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offences related to the position. A valid full privilege Class 5 BC drivers license (or out of province equivalent) is also required.
