About the position
The HR and HSE Manager is a member of the Management Team and has responsibility for all HR and HSE processes and practices within the Company including employee and industrial relations recruitment development performance compliance with workplace legislation and health safety and environmental performance. The role and influence of the position is wide and varied and is supported by the HR & HSE Administrator and HSE Specialist.
Key responsibilities will include:
Human Resources:
- Lead HR operations planning and growth initiatives.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment onboarding and retention programs.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on performance employee relations and engagement.
- Develop and maintain HR policies ensuring compliance with Australian legislation and industry best practice.
- Oversee performance management and employee development programs.
- Support broader company strategy and operations.
- Contribute to industrial relations and EBA processes.
Health & Safety
- Lead the companys HSE function ensuring compliance with Australian legislation standards and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement of HSE systems policies and frameworks to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Coach and build capability across all levels of the business through effective training and engagement.
- Oversee and mentor the HSE team providing strategic direction and operational support.
- Conduct and coordinate HSE audits risk assessments and incident investigations ensuring preventive measures are implemented.
- Advise senior leadership on HSE performance risks and opportunities including reporting and regulatory updates.
- Support tendering activities through the provision of accurate HSE documentation and performance data.

About You
To best support your growth and ours were looking for candidates who possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources Business or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Tertiary qualifications in HSE project management engineering or construction
- Current working knowledge of Australian employment legislation awards and enterprise agreements.
- Proven experience in Human Resources ideally within a unionised multi-site environment.
- Preferred 5 years experience in heavy industry (construction petrochemical mining) or 1 - 5 years experience in manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated capability in employee relations and industrial relations including interpreting and applying enterprise agreements and awards.
- Trained in Management System Auditing.
- Root Cause Analysis Facilitator (ICAM)
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies procedures and systems.
- High level of resilience and drive to support the ongoing change and development of the Company.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills with a pragmatic solutions-focused approach.
- Ability to balance hands-on operational HR work whilst driving strategic change.
- High level of computer literacy including experience creating efficiencies and advancing systems and technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to influence and coach.
This position will require a current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old) a current drivers licence and evidence of right to work in Australia.
