Job Summary

We are growing and that means an exciting opportunity has opened up for a vibrant enthusiastic Support Worker to join our community team in the Castlepoint area on a Part Time basis! You would be supporting a young man who has recently joined our adult services programme helping him settle in and thrive.

Due to the needs of the people we support we can only accept applications from female candidates.

The role

Callum is a cheerful young man who communicates using Sign-a-long and vocal sounds to express the syllables of the words hes trying to say. If youre new to Sign-a-long dont worry - we provide fantastic training as part of your induction so youll feel confident in no time.

Callum loves getting out and about in the community whether its a trip to the park or a visit to the beach. He uses a wheelchair to support his mobility but also enjoys walking a little and standing to pick something up when he chooses.

Hes also a big fan of creative activities like playing with Play-Doh and getting stuck into arts and crafts at his day provision. At home Callum is all about comfort he loves snuggling up with his cuddly toys wrapping himself in cosy blankets and watching his favourite showson CBeebies.

Callum is supported on a 2:1 basis and thrives with upbeat enthusiastic staff who bring positive energy and boost morale. If youre someone who can bring smiles and sunshine to every shift wed love to hear from you!

He also has epilepsy so its really important that you have some understanding of the conditionwhether thats through personal experience or a professional background.

A day in the life of a Support Worker would include:

  • Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
  • Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans finances appointments and medication
  • Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy adapting this as required based on change in behaviour
  • Providing some elements of personal care from personal hygiene prompts helping to bath and wash medication

Hours:

Shifts within the service are between 7am 10pm Monday to Sunday on a two week rolling rota.
