The mission of the Department of Medical Sciences is to educate and inspire diverse and interdisciplinary professionals to be leaders and innovators in medical science. The department offers an interdisciplinary doctoral degree in Healthcare Leadership a Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) studies and two interdisciplinary dual masters-degree programs.
Our faculty members are practicing clinicians researchers and healthcare leaders who bring real world experience to the classroom. Northeastern Universitys graduates are in high demand and are employed in positions across the United States and addition to clinical practice our graduates are employed in research administration education and leadership.
Our flagship program in Physician Assistant studies and was Established in 1971 the physician assistant program and has a long-standing history of and expertise in the education and training of physician assistants. The PA program is in close proximity to Bostons major academic medical centers and was the first generalist PA training program in the nation to offer a masters degree in 1985. This rigorous highly integrated curriculum offers our students the opportunity to obtain broad generalist training that is designed to prepare them for successful employment in all fields of clinical practice.
About the Opportunity
The Department of Medical Sciences is recruiting an Open Rank Visiting Clinical Professor in the Physician Assistant Program. The Open Rank Visiting Clinical Professor is responsible for instruction of the didactic component of the Physician Assistant Program curriculum ensuring the high educational and medical quality of the didactic curriculum program organization and administration and student education and mentoring. The Open Rank Visiting Clinical Professor will also assist in maintaining accreditation standards and participating in any activities necessary to maintain Northeastern at the forefront of PA education. The position is a 52-week 0.5 FTE non-tenure track faculty position on our Boston Campus.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include teaching graduate courses conducting research and participating in program departmental school college and university service. Qualified candidates should demonstrate expertise in or a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.
Participate in the didactic and clinical component of the curriculum which includes program planning implementation and assessment
Serve on the admissions committee
Coordinate and teach courses based on areas of content and clinical expertise
Facilitate small group discussion sessions; participate in simulation and physical diagnosis and skills labs
Advise and mentor students; participate in all aspects of recruitment retention and academic progression
Provide continuous development maintenance and evaluation of courses
Develop criteria and procedures for didactic and clinical courses consistent with ARC-PA Standards
Participate in curriculum development
Perform site visits to PA students during clinical rotations
Monitor evaluate and document the academic performance of students to ensure that they successfully achieve the criteria for successful completion of the didactic and clinical courses
Review and analyze student evaluations from part-time faculty/preceptors/clinical instructors and assist in the determination of the final grade for courses with separately taught subject areas
Develop and implement academic intervention and remediation plans for students as needed
Participate in ongoing program review and the continuous self-study process
Perform additional assignments at the direction of the Department Chair and Program Director of the Physician Assistant Program
Qualifications
Minimum of a Masters degree in a field related to physician assistant practice or the education of physician assistant students.
Physician assistants must be currently certified by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Physician candidates must be certified by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) specialty board or by an American Osteopathic Association (AOA) approved specialty board
Physician assistant or physician candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Proven experience in higher education (i.e. faculty lecturer preceptor etc.)
Strong interpersonal communication organization problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Proficiency with computer technology (i.e. word processing e-mail spreadsheets databases)
Knowledge of legislative regulatory legal and practice issues affecting clinical education students and the physician assistant profession
Strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion
Ability to integrate technology into the educational experience.
Ability of travel to clinical sites
At least three (3) years of experience as a practicing clinician
Expertise in as many of the following areas as possible: prior administration; resource allocation and assessment planning; program accreditation; technology integration into the educational experience; and online learning.

Pay Range:
Visiting NTT Faculty: $84000 - $115000With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
